Class Etiquette

 
  • If you are a new student then you will need to complete a short health questionnaire before you do your first class at Absolute Yoga. Accordingly, if you are new then you will need to arrive at least 15 minutes prior to the commencement of your first class.

     

  • Please turn your mobile phones off before you book in at reception. Yoga is not a regular exercise class. It is really important that you are present in the moment and mentally prepared for your yoga practice. It is not possible to achieve this concentration and focus if you are checking your texts and emails a few minutes before the class is due to start.

     

  • Please arrive at least five minutes prior to the commencement of your class. Your place may be given to someone on the waiting list if you arrive late.

     

  • If you arrive after the class has started you will not be allowed into the yoga room as it will disturb the other people in the class who will have already begun the processes of deep breathing and relaxation.

     

  • The yoga room is a quiet space so please do not talk in the yoga room (or whisper!). This is very disruptive for the other students. Prior to starting a class you should take some time to quieten your mind and concentrate on your breathing before you begin your practice.

     

  • There are no keys, phones, bags, shoes or any other personal items allowed in the yoga room. Please leave your belongings in the changing rooms or lockers and please also ensure that mobile phones are turned off even when they are stored outside the yoga room.

     

  • If you are a new student then you should try and get a place on the back row of the yoga room. This will make it easier for you to follow the sequence of the class.

     

  • If you are a new student then your goal for the first few sessions is to just stay in the room and get used to the heat. Do not worry so much about keeping up with the rest of the class. If at any point you feel unable to carry on then it is absolutely fine to lie down on the mat and concentrate on getting your breathing under control. You can then join back in whenever you feel ready.

     

  • Walking in and out of the room disturbs the practice of the other students. If you need to leave the yoga room because you feel too hot, ill or need to use the bathroom then please note that you will not be allowed back into the yoga room.
