Rose: alright-ish Yoga person. Although adhering to the principles of traditional yoga practice—breathwork, bodywork, mental focus and relaxation—I deeply believe yoga should be accessible to everyone and we can all have fun with the process. Yoga keeps me sane, makes me feel good and gives me permission to unapologetically be myself (that’s usually eating a lot of Ben & Jerry’s).

Stretch, strength, spiritualism and smiles.

Saeed in Niralamba Sarvangasana (Unsupported Shoulder Stand). This is an advanced posture and significantly harder to perform than Salamba Sarvangasana (Supported Shoulder Stand, with arms) because, without the levering action of the arms, the muscles that move the scapulae (shoulder blades) on the rib cage must work a lot harder so that the weight of the body does not fall onto the spine.Saeed is trained in the practice of Sivananda Hatha Yoga which he teaches on Tuesday nights at Absolute Yoga. Saeed is also a Personal Trainer and Pilates teacher who holds an interest in nutrition and physiology.  In this picture, Saeed is shown in Niralamba Sarvangasana (Unsupported Shoulder Stand) which is a posture practised in some of his classes. This is an advanced yoga pose and significantly harder to perform than Salamba Sarvangasana (Supported Shoulder Stand, with arms). This is because without the levering action of the arms, the muscles that move the scapulae (shoulder blades) on the rib cage must work a lot harder so that the weight of the body does not fall onto the spine.
